- 9/18: Thursdays HW has been posted.
- 9/15: Here are my general Quiz/Exam remarks again:
- Read problems CAREFULLY.
- Don't make any assumptions that are not supported by the
way the problem is worded.
- If you are unclear about something, then ask!
- Answer what the problem asks, not what you think it asks.
- Just a number as an answer is insufficient. All answers should
come with explanations (How did you come up with the answer? Why
do you think it is correct?).
- Your explanations should be in full sentences.
- 9/14: Todays HW now posted.
- 9/14: Quiz 1 on Thursday.
- Closed notes, closed book, closed everything.
- No calculator needed
- Material from Chapter 1: Stories 1,2,3,7 from
- Material from Chapter 2: pg 38-41, 47-56 (except top of pg 54).
- Homework questions are fair game, but expect to see questions
that are not EXACTLY like homework questions.
- 9/14: I have put a copy of the textbook on 2hr reserve in the library.
You should be able to check it out starting tomorrow.
- 9/9: A great webpage on Fibonacci numbers.
- 9/3: From now on only changes to homework assignments
will be announced in this place -- the assignments can be found at

- 8/31: Extra homework problem: know Pi and the square root of two
up to their 4th digit after the period.
- 8/31:
Universal grade change form.
- 8/31: A few strategies for success in any (math) class:
- Do your homework!
- Come to class, take notes, and pay attention!
- If you don't understand something, then ask. You are
probably not the only person who "missed something".
- Review the material after class, or even better: read ahead!
(You should periodically check the schedule for any updates.)
- Learning (Math) can take time. Make the time!
- Use the
Math lab
as often as you can/need to -- it is free tutoring.
- The Math lab is open Monday through Friday, TBA.
It is located in
Kellogg library 1103.
- Relax and think positive -- you can do it!
