Homework assignments

Homework will be assigned in almost every lecture, but not collected.
There will usually be a homework diagnostics on Thursday.
A homework diagnostic heavily relies on the homework assigned starting from the day of the last diagnostic.
It is helpful for you to summarize what you read and write down your solutions/ideas to homework problems: Remember, the diagnostic quizzes are open (handwritten!) notes, but not open book.
The following list collects all assigments. The date tells you when the assignment was announced.

- Make a Mobius strip out of an 11-inch strip of paper:
  - Cut the Mobius strip along the center. What do you get, how long is this strip and how many twists does it have?
  - Instead, cut the Mobius strip by staying close to the edge (as in experiment 4 on page 346). What do you get, how long is/are the strip(s) and how many twists do they have.

Assignment of 11/2:
- I expect everybody to read pages 268-282 by 11/9. In class we will briefly discuss what you have read. If there are no questions, then we will move quickly to section 4.6
- Build them by 11/9 using the manipulation kit and get points: Tetrahedron (1pt), Cube (2pts), Octahedron (2pts), Dodecahedron (4pts), Icosahedron (4pts). This is particularly useful for those of you who have missed a diagnostic.

- Read page 25-26 and do problems 1,2,3,4.
- Check the webpage -- well you did that already :)
