Welcome to History 318: Society and Culture in Early Modern Europe

This is a painting, "Peasant Dance," by Pieter Breughel

This course is entirely online. Please always use this electronic version because it contains links to the study questions, documents, and other materials that form the heart of the course. Because I constantly update the syllabus (never to your disadvantage, however), you need to look at it often. Each week, the syllabus will link you to WebCT6, where discussions will take place. You will also use WebCT6 to email the members of your presentation group and to send messages and response papers to me. I know this sounds complicated, but I like the flexibility of Frontpage for the syllabus and online materials, yet find WebCT6 better for discussion. So please bear with me. If you have any questions, please email me: aelwood@csusm.edu.

First assignment (due before August 28: Send me a short autobiography, with a picture if you like, for Autobiographies of people in the class. You can see my autobiography by clicking on the site, then on my name.

Then look at the Syllabus. Your second assignment is due by noon, August 29
