I think that the institution of marriage in the U.S. is not what people think it is. I think that so many people have so many different expectations and experiences, but they don’t use those things to define the world around them and look at what is actually going on. Instead they depend on the images that the media give them. If this is the case then things haven’t really changed all that much. People see TV shows with two parents and 2 or 3 kids and think that everyone lives like that, and that is what is normal. And this view makes them think that either marriage is falling apart or adapting, but it is not based on their experiences and/or any data. I am not sure, what marriage is doing. My father has been married 3 times and my mother never remarried. I am getting married in April, so obviously I have faith in the instution, and I believe that people can still do the forever thing, if they want to. I guess I just think that it is what you make it.
