Criteria for the evaluation of in-class participation

Your class participation will be worth 10 percent (or 10 points of a total 100) of your final grade. Below you will find the scale that I will use to assign your final participation grade. It is a profile of student participation performance at the different point levels.

Rating

Points

Superior

8-10

  • I came prepared to class everyday, having completed and analyzed assigned readings, and having reviewed the previous class’ notes.
  • I always came to class with my homework completed with my best effort.
  • I always volunteered to participate in class discussions when my professor asked for volunteers.
  • My contributions to class discussions and group work, through questions or commentary, were not only frequent, but also significant, and they had a positive impact on the class.
  • I always tried very hard to use Spanish in class, and I only used English after asking for permission, and after I attempted to express myself in Spanish.
  • When I was having trouble with course material I always asked questions and actively sought help from my instructor or a tutor.
