CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE – SPAN 370
Pagers/Cell phones: Please turn off all pagers and cell phones during our class sessions. These interruptions are distracting to the learning environment of your fellow classmates. If you have an emergency situation, please let me know.
Bathroom breaks: Each class session lasts two hours and forty-five minutes. We will break for a 15-minute recess after about the first hour and fifteen minutes of class. As adults attending a university, it is assumed that you are able to sit through a class session of this length, without needing to leave the room. Please do your very best to avoid having to leave and re-enter the classroom during class sessions. (Also, please remember that when we break up into small groups for discussions, this is not an invitation to go use the phone, restroom, etc. Group work is serious work!)
Children: Please make every effort to secure alternate child care arrangements, so it will not be necessary to bring children to class. Especially, please do not bring sick children to class – if they are too ill to be in school or daycare, they are too ill to be at college!
Visitors: If you wish to bring a visitor with you to class, this will usually be fine. However, as a courtesy to me, please ask my permission at the beginning of class, and introduce me to your visitor, so that I will know who is in my class.
Special Note:
Students with Disabilities:
If you are registered with the Office of Disabled Student Services, and require special accommodations for testing, classroom lectures, or other activities, please let me know as soon as possible. I will be happy to help accommodate you, so that you can get the most out of the learning experience of this class.
