Dear Students:
Welcome to Spanish 399- ONLINE, Fall 2003! I am happy to have you in my course and I hope that you enjoy your experience with Community Service Learning in Spanish. It is a wonderful opportunity to improve your Spanish skills, learn more about local Hispanic and Latino cultures here in San Diego, serve others, and find out about interesting ways in which Spanish can be used in different careers.
The on-line medium, though advantageous in many ways, can be somewhat impersonal. Please know that I am available to help you in any way I can with the course. You are welcome to come to my office hours and chat in person, or correspond via email. Whichever you prefer, be sure to let me know if you have any questions or if I can help you in any way.
In order to begin the online course you will first need to read through the each of the pages linked above. These pages will describe the nature of the course and its assignments, as well as give you an idea of what community service learning is. When you are done reading all of the pages, your first assignment will be to fill out and submit the Course Contract.
I wish you a wonderful and rewarding semester,
Prof. Pellettieri
