            The evolution of surf film

Technology, awareness and raw surfing have helped to change surf
film into the surf videos that we now see. And with these changes the
surf video is now able to reach a greater number and a large verity of
people. My  presentation will start at 1940 (the beginning of surf film) to
the present day. During my presentation I will be using footage from volumes 1
and 2 of the Surfers Journals set about surf film makers. These videos show
the influence of the major surf film creators like Bud Brown, Bruce Brown and Taylor Stele. Also used  is Aloha  Boles, for the new age/modern surfing. This film is more of an under ground, produced by a
local Hawaiian surfer. The at films that I will be using are by Bruce Brown and
they are Endless Summer 1 and 2. These videos show the lifestyles of young surfer on the
pursuit of great waves. Also used for research on this topic was an interview
of a  young surfer by the name Jamie. Jamie gave quite some history of
surf film  even though he didn't live though the hole evolution. I also
visited the California Surf Museum in Oceanside and John Seversons
web page for the history and changes that occurred. After my presentation I hope
you have a better knowledge and understanding of surf film and
maybe you will look at surf movies for art, politics or other life styles.
