VR and The Body

The human body is one of the many marvels of our world. Since the beginning time it has been studied to unlock its main mechanism of function. To this day it seems that no end is near. We have been able to learn a great deal about the human body but we have only discovered some pieces to a puzzle that has no end. As our world grows and evolves so do our tools for collecting information about the human body. So we ask ourselves what might these tools be?

In my presentation I will take you through a short history of virtual reality and how it development into its current status today. Components like rotoscoping and simulation are part of Virtual realities evolution. Next we will explore the different types of Virtual environments. By recreating environments through computer simulation we are able to recreate a real life experience. There are roughly 8 types of Virtual Reality environments. They are Adventure games environments, desktop Environments, Projected environments, Semi-immersive environments, immersive environments distributed virtual environments, telepresence environments and augmented reality environments. It is important to learn about the history because it leads us to how virtual reality is used with the body. By having these real time environment available, doctors are able to study the body in ways never done before. Dangerous environments like surgeries can be recreated through virtual reality. These ideas will be the main focus for my presentation.
